Life Sciences
Life Sciences is an international journal publishing articles that emphasize the molecular, cellular, and functional basis of therapy. The journal emphasizes the understanding of mechanism that is relevant to all aspects of human disease and translation to patients. All articles are rigorously reviewed.The Journal favors publication of full-length papers where modern scientific technologies are used to explain molecular, cellular and physiological mechanisms. Articles that merely report observations are rarely accepted. Recommendations from the Declaration of Helsinki or NIH guidelines for care and use of laboratory animals must be adhered to. Articles should be written at a level accessible to readers who are non-specialists in the topic of the article themselves, but who are interested in the research. The Journal welcomes mini-reviews on topics of wide interest to investigators in the life sciences. We particularly encourage submission of brief, focused reviews containing high-quality artwork and require the use of mechanistic summary diagrams.Manuscripts should present novel preclinical findings addressing questions of biological significance to human disease. Studies that fail to do so may be rejected without review. Quantitative conclusions must be based on truly quantitative methods. Life Sciences does not publish work on the actions of biological extracts of unknown chemical composition. Compounds studied must be of known chemical structure and concentration. The study must be reproducible; materials used must be available to other researchers so they can repeat the experiment. Clinical studies may be considered if they expand understanding of mechanism, but the journal does not encourage clinical trial reports.Four common reasons for rejection include: out of scope (the manuscript does not conform to the goal of identification of mechanisms related to therapy for human disease); too preliminary (manuscript is based on a limited amount of experimental data diminishing significance); lack of novelty (manuscript is well done but does not address a significant question); unidentified structure (actions of biological extracts of unknown chemical composition).

- Non-cancer health effects of space radiation, space flight;
- Space radiation risk assessment and countermeasures;
- Space radiation dosimetry- measurements, modeling and detector development;
- Gravitational effects in biological systems;
- Effects of space radiation in living organisms at the cellular and molecular levels.
Limnologica: Ecology and Management of Inland Waters
Limnologica publishes articles addressing biological, physical and chemical aspects of freshwater ecosystems and adjacent habitats. We particularly invite contributions dealing with applied topics (e.g. ecotechnology, bioindication,restoration) and with less frequently investigated aquatic ecosystems and world regions (South America, Africa, Asia).
Linear Algebra and its Applications
Linear Algebra and its Applications publishes articles that contribute new information or new insights to matrix theory and finite dimensionallinear algebra in their algebraic, arithmetic, combinatorial, geometric, or numerical aspects. It also publishes articles that give significant applications of matrix theory or linear algebra to other branches of mathematics and to other sciences. Articles that provide new information or perspectives on the historical development of matrix theory and linear algebra are also welcome. Expository articles which can serve as an introduction to a subject for workers in related areas and which bring one to the frontiers of research are encouraged. Reviews of books are published occasionally as are conference reports that provide an historical record of major meetings on matrix theory and linear algebra.Articles that have previously been published - fully or in part - in conference or similar proceedings which have been made available outside of the conference should not be submitted for publication in Linear Algebra and Its Applications.In addition to regular issues, special issues are published which focus on a theme of current interest, which honor a prominent individual within the field of linear algebra, or which are devoted to papers presented at a conference. Inquiries should be addressed to one of the editors-in-chief.
Lingua: An International Review of General Linguistics
The journal is devoted to the problems of general linguistics. Its aim is to present work of current interest in all areas of linguistics. Contributions are required to contain such general theoretical implications as to be of interest to any linguist, whatever their own specialisation.No particular linguistic theories or scientific trends are favoured: scientific quality and scholarly standing are the only criteria applied in the selection of papers accepted for publication.Lingua publishes papers of any length, if justified, as well as review articles surveying developments in the various fields of linguistics, and occasional discussions. A considerable number of pages in each issue are devoted to critical book reviews. Lingua also publishes Lingua Franca articles consisting of provocative exchanges expressing strong opinions on central topics in linguistics; The Decade In articles which are educational articles offering the nonspecialist linguist an overview of a given area of study; and Taking up the Gauntlet special issues composed of a set number of papers examining one set of data and exploring whose theory offers the most insight with a minimal set of assumptions and a maximum of arguments. Lingua also publishes themed special issues and has the facility to publish supplementary material online, for example, audio and video files.
Linguistics and Education
Linguistics and Education is an international peer-reviewed journal that welcomes submissions from across the world that advance knowledge, theory, or methodology at the intersections of linguistics and education. The journal is concerned with the role played by language and other communicative/semiotic systems in mediating opportunities for learning and participation in a globalized world. Research published in the journal engages with the complexities and changing realities of educational contexts and practices, focusing on all levels of formal education, as well as a wide variety of informal learning contexts throughout the lifespan and across modes, genres and technologies.
Linguistics and Education encourages submissions that incorporate theories and methodologies from all traditions of linguistics and language study to explore any aspect of education. Areas of study at the intersection of linguistics and education include, but are not limited to: sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, critical discourse analysis, conversation analysis, linguistic anthropology, ethnography of communication, language socialization, narrative studies, gesture/sign/visual forms of communication, social semiotics, literacy studies, language policy, language ideology, functional grammar or text/corpus linguistics.
Linguistics and Education is a research-oriented journal. Papers may address practical and policy implications for education but must be built on robust research and have a strong conceptual grounding in their analyses and discussions. Linguistics and Education welcomes papers from across disciplinary and interdisciplinary research traditions that reflect principled application of qualitative, quantitative or mixed methodological paradigms and research designs (e.g. case studies, ethnographic fieldwork, experimental/semi-experimental studies, etc.). Papers must be relevant to an international readership.

Lithos: Journal of Petrology, Mineralogy and Geochemistry
Lithos publishes original research papers on the petrology, geochemistry and petrogenesis of igneous and metamorphic rocks. The majority of users of
Lung Cancer
Original research articles, early reports, review articles, commentaries and editorials covering the prevention, epidemiology and etiology, basic biology, pathology, clinical assessment, surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, combined treatment modalities, other treatment modalities and outcomes of lung cancer are all welcome. Letters to the journals are also welcomed although authors should be aware that the majority will be published online only. Early reports should briefly describe the initial results of a research topic and will be expedited through peer-review.
Manuscripts describing studies on cell lines will only be considered if the data compares at least two types of distinct cell lines and the results have general implications on the understanding of the biology of chest tumours. Authors of studies on cell lines must also agree to make freely available to other researchers any of the cells, clones of cells, or DNA or antibodies, etc, that were used in the research reported and that are not available from commercial suppliers.

Manufacturing Letters, an official journal of the The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), in cooperation with the North American Manufacturing Research Institution of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (NAMRI/SME), is an online, rapid-publication journal providing a home for short, high-quality papers from the international academic and industry community on important advances from all interdisciplinary research areas impacting manufacturing.The journal promotes an exchange of ideas and communicates significant developments of immediate interest to others engaged in formative research that contributes to progress in manufacturing techniques, models, processes, and systems.Original concise papers are encouraged describing new kinds of manufacturing based on new processes or materials, new concepts in manufacturing systems or enterprises, or novel ways to look at old problems and solutions in manufacturing that show promise. Papers merit acceptance, for example, by detailing the key elements of an emerging field of research, describing the potential of an experimental or theoretical improvement, or demonstrating a new contribution to practice or policy. Papers should not merely confirm or extend previous work.To meet a vital need to rapidly disseminate current scientific findings, Manufacturing Letters uses a streamlined review process. Papers are peer reviewed and (1) accepted as written or (2) rejected within four (4) weeks of submission. Rejected papers can be revised but must be resubmitted as new manuscripts.Papers are limited to 1500 words, not including the abstract, references, and a maximum of four (4) figures or tables. Papers must be original contributions, not simultaneously submitted elsewhere, previously published or scheduled to be published.
