  • Genetic effects of transposable elements
  • Genetic control of secondary metabolic pathways and metabolic enzymes.
  • Herbal Medicine - regulation and medicinal properties of plant products.
  • Plant hormonal signaling.
  • Plant evolutionary genetics, molecular evolution, population genetics, and phylogenetics.
  • Profiling of plant gene expression and genetic variation
  • Plant-microbe interactions (e.g., influence of endophytes on gene expression; horizontal gene transfer studies; etc.)
  • Agricultural genetics - biotechnology and crop improvement

Plant Gene encourages http://ees.elsevier.com/plantgene/submission of novel manuscripts that present a reasonable level of analysis, functional relevance and/or mechanistic insight. Plant Gene also welcomes papers that have predominantly a descriptive component but improve the essential basis of knowledge for subsequent functional studies, or provide important confirmation of recently published discoveries.

Plant Science: An international journal of experimental plant biology

ISSN: 0168-9452eISSN: 1873-2259

Plant Science will publish in the minimum of time, research manuscripts as well as commissioned reviews and commentaries recommended by its referees in all areas of experimental plant biology with emphasis in the broad areas of genomics, proteomics, biochemistry (including enzymology), physiology, cell biology, development, genetics, functional plant breeding, systems biology and the interaction of plants with the environment.Manuscripts for full consideration should be written concisely and essentially as a final report. The main criterion for publication is that the manuscript must contain original and significant insights that lead to a better understanding of fundamental plant biology. Papers centering on plant cell culture should be of interest to a wide audience and methods employed result in a substantial improvement over existing established techniques and approaches. Methods papers are welcome only when the technique(s) described is novel or provides a major advancement of established protocols.Plant Science is not a publication vehicle for preliminary observations, for studies that are merely confirmatory of results accomplished in other plant systems, or that are addressed only to a specialized readership. Submitted manuscripts describing studies of preliminary nature, that are merely confirmatory in scope or of limited scope and interest to the general readership of the journal will be returned without formal review. As a general policy, the journal will no longer consider manuscripts just describing the cloning, sequencing and expression patterns of gene sequences that have been identified and characterized in other plant species, expression of a protein without proper characterization of the recombinant product and native form, the isolation, purification and characterization of enzymes extensively analyzed in other plants, description of molecular markers and plant genetic diversity without any relevant biological information, cell culture and/or transformation of plant species (or closely related species) already established in the literature and basic transcriptomic approaches with no further relevant functional characterization of genes of interest.

Particularly welcome are papers that make an original contribution to the major disciplines - sociology, psychology, media and communication studies, and economics - within which promising lines of research on culture, media and the arts have been developed.Poetics would be pleased to consider, for example, the following types of papers:• Sociological research on participation in the arts; media use and consumption; the conditions under which makers of cultural products operate; the functioning of institutions that make, distribute and/or judge cultural products, arts and media policy; etc.• Psychological research on the cognitive processing of cultural products such as literary texts, films, theatrical performances, visual artworks; etc.• Media and communications research on the globalization of media production and consumption; the role and performance of journalism; the development of media and creative industries; the social uses of media; etc.• Economic research on the funding, costs and benefits of commercial and non-profit organizations in the fields of art and culture; choice behavior of audiences analysed from the viewpoint of the theory of lifestyles; the impact of economic institutions on the production or consumption of cultural goods; etc.The production and consumption of media, art and culture are highly complex and interrelated phenomena. Our insight into these broad domains will be considerably enhanced by studies focusing on the interrelationships of the many factors that shape behavior towards art, culture and the media.Poetics publishes not only advanced research reports but also overview articles. Occasional special issues, guest-edited by specialists, present the state of the art and/or discuss new developments in a particular field. Included among these special issues are: Relational analysis and institutional meanings: Formal models for the study of culture (2000), Advertising and entertainment (2001), Gender, networks, and cultural capital (2004), Music in society: The sociological agenda (2004), Approaches to material culture: The sociology of fashion and clothing (2006), The digital divide in the twenty-first century (2006), Social status and cultural consumption in seven countries (2007), and Religion and culture (2008).

Polymer Degradation and Stability

ISSN: 0141-3910eISSN: 1873-2321

Polymer Degradation and Stability deals with the degradation reactions and their control which are a major preoccupation of practitioners of the many and diverse aspects of modern polymer technology.Deteriorative reactions occur during processing, when polymers are subjected to heat, oxygen and mechanical stress, and during the useful life of the materials when oxygen and sunlight are the most important degradative agencies. In more specialised applications, degradation may be induced by high energy radiation, ozone, atmospheric pollutants, mechanical stress, biological action, hydrolysis and many other influences. The mechanisms of these reactions and stabilisation processes must be understood if the technology and application of polymers are to continue to advance. The reporting of investigations of this kind is therefore a major function of this journal. However there are also new developments in polymer technology in which degradation processes find positive applications. For example, photodegradable plastics are now available, the recycling of polymeric products will become increasingly important, degradation and combustion studies are involved in the definition of the fire hazards which are associated with polymeric materials and the microelectronics industry is vitally dependent upon polymer degradation in the manufacture of its circuitry. Polymer properties may also be improved by processes like curing and grafting, the chemistry of which can be closely related to that which causes physical deterioration in other circumstances.Radiation of various kinds is used to initiate many of these modern technological processes so that polymer photochemistry has come to a new prominence and finds a major place in this journal. The study of all these processes has made extensive use of modern instrumental analytical methods and the various spectrometric, chromatographic and thermal analysis techniques have been particularly prominent. There is clearly a strong common bond between investigations in various parts of the field. Polymer Degradation and Stability provides a forum for the publication of their work.

Polymer Testing

ISSN: 0142-9418eISSN: 1873-2348
DOAJ Logo

Polymer Testing provides a forum for developments in the testing of polymers and polymeric products and is hence of interest to those concerned with testing rubbers and plastics in research, in production and in connection with the specification and purchase of products. The journal covers all branches and aspects of testing, including new apparatus, new techniques and standards, together with their application to quality assurance and product development. The accent is on testing so that statistical experiment design and the relevance of methods in generating design data are covered; papers which report measured data of value to designers and technologists are also welcome. The scope of the journal extends to all rubbers and plastics, including cellular materials, composites and polymeric based adhesives. All types of test, physical and chemical, are included from those on the basic polymer to the testing of products. There is equal concern with tests used in research and tests used every day in the factory.Despite the range of materials, products and type of test, there is a common bond between workers involved in, or concerned with, the testing of rubbers and plastics. Polymer Testing provides a forum for publication of their work and discussion of matters of mutual interest which are not given full attention in other polymer technology journals.
