Systems Biology in Reproductive Medicine
Systems Biology in Reproductive Medicine, SBiRM, publishes Research Articles, Communications, Applications Notes that include protocols a Clinical Corner that includes case reports, Review Articles and Hypotheses and Letters to the Editor on human and animal reproduction. The journal will highlight the use of systems approaches including genomic, cellular, proteomic, metabolomic, bioinformatic, molecular, and biochemical, to address fundamental questions in reproductive biology, reproductive medicine, and translational research. The journal publishes research involving human and animal gametes, stem cells, developmental biology and toxicology, and clinical care in reproductive medicine. Specific areas of interest to the journal include: male factor infertility and germ cell biology, reproductive technologies (gamete micro-manipulation and cryopreservation, in vitro fertilization/embryo transfer (IVF/ET) and contraception. Research that is directed towards developing new or enhanced technologies for clinical medicine or scientific research in reproduction is of significant interest to the Journal.

- A manuscript rejected by a leading multidisciplinary journal or a leading specific-field journal may be submitted to Temperature with the rejection letter from that journal accompanied by all reviewers’ reports. This may allow Temperature to consider the already peer-reviewed manuscript without sending it for additional review.
- Temperature has a special article type, called Challenge, designed for publishing paradigm-shifting research. Challenge articles dispute consensus views. They can be both original-research reports and reviews. Such “the-earth-is-round!” articles are typically rejected by anonymous reviewers who defend “the-earth-is-flat!” consensus views. Temperature intends to identify Challenge articles early during the peer-review process and - instead of rejecting them - to publish them and to subject them to additional, rigorous post-publication peer-review. Multiple Letters to Editor from the leading experts in the field will be invited. Temperature's credo is to promote scientific discussion and dispute. Any scientific model can be further improved (changed) by challenging current consensus views. Maybe the earth is round indeed!
- Temperature has a special content type, Teaching Slide, allowing professors who teach temperature-related sciences to disseminate their creative work and receive full credit for it. Many universities treat funding-generating faculty members as first-class citizens, while faculty members dedicated to performing the main function of any university — teaching — are often treated as second-class citizens. Temperature has a different position. It is open to teachers and let them use the journal pages for teaching. Teaching Slides will always be free to authors and will always be published with immediate open access.
