FLORA is the scientific botanical journal with the longest uninterrupted publication sequence (since 1818). Manuscripts will be considered for publication dealing with plant structure (morphology and anatomy), plant distribution (molecular phylogeography) and plant functional ecology (ecophysiology, population ecology and population genetics, organismic interactions, community ecology, ecosystem ecology).Manuscripts will be considered if they appeal a broad scientific readership.Manuscripts of mostly taxonomic nature or focused on floristics and vegetation science will only be considered if they exceed the pure descriptive approach and have relevance for interpreting plant morphology, distribution or ecology. Manuscripts whose content is restricted to purely systematic and nomenclature matters, to geobotanical aspects of only local interest, to pure applications in agri-, horti- or silviculture, and experimental studies dealing exclusively with investigations at the cellular and subcellular level will not be accepted. Manuscripts dealing with comparative and evolutionary aspects of morphology, anatomy and development are welcome.

Freshwater Biology
The Journal publishes STANDARD RESEARCH PAPERS on all aspects of the ecology of inland waters, including rivers and lakes, connected ground waters, flood plains and other wetlands. We accept studies of micro-organisms, algae, macrophytes, invertebrates, fish and other vertebrates, as well as those concerning whole ecosystems and related physical and chemical aspects of the environment. Studies may focus at any level in the ecological hierarchy from physiological ecology and animal behaviour, through population dynamics and evolutionary genetics, to community interactions and ecosystem functioning. They may also be at any scale, from microhabitat to landscape or biogeography. There is a UK-wide limit on the total number of papers which can be published Open Access via this deal. Once this threshold is hit, the deal will pause, and immediate Open Access with Wiley will be unavailable for Manchester authors for a period of time. The Library will communicate any such changes to researchers when the limit is reached

Institutional Agreement
The University does not have an Open Access (OA) agreement with Frontiers.
We have a prepayment account we use to pay Article Processing Charges (APCs), which provides us with a 10% discount.
For us to pay a Frontiers APC, authors need to request OA funding from us using our Open Access enquiry form, or by email.
