AgeingCell Biology

Aging Cell is a bi-monthly peer-reviewed, open access journal that aims to publish the highest quality, innovative research addressing fundamental issues in the biology of aging. For publication in Aging Cell, the work must provide a major new contribution to the understanding of aging and be of general interest to the community. Aging Cell seeks to cover all areas of geroscience, highlighting research that uncovers mechanistic aspects of the aging process, as well as the links between aging and age-related disease. Observations of novel aging processes without substantial mechanistic insight will be considered, but should be of especially high impact for the field. Topics including, but not limited to, nutrient-responsive signaling pathways, neuronal and endocrine signaling pathways, tissue interactions, genetic and epigenetic regulation and integrity, proteostasis, circadian rhythms, ROS and mitochondria, cellular senescence, stem cells, progerias and interventions that affect aging are encouraged. All experimental approaches, including plant models, are welcome. Papers that focus on the pathogenesis of a specific age-related pathology are also of interest, but should offer new insights into the fundamental links between aging and disease.

SPECIAL ISSUE CALL FOR PAPERS: Cognitive and Motivational Mechanisms Compensating for the Limitations in Performance on Complex Cognitive Tasks across the Adult Life-SpanThe purposes of Aging, Neuropsychology, and Cognition are to (a) publish research on both the normal and dysfunctional aspects of cognitive development in adulthood and aging, and (b) promote the integration of theories, methods, and research findings between the fields of cognitive gerontology and neuropsychology.The primary emphasis of the journal is to publish original empirical research. Occasionally, theoretical or methodological papers, critical reviews of a content area, or theoretically relevant case studies will also be published.   • Review and original research articles can be published immediately Open Access at no cost to the author

  • Agreement applies to subscription-based journals offering SAGE Choice Open Access, as well as subscription-based journals in the IMechE Journal Collection and the Royal Society of Medicine Collection 

  • Agreement applies to both funded and unfunded papers  

  • Corresponding author must be affiliated with The University of Manchester  

  • This publisher’s portfolio is primarily focused on disciplines within the Humanities and Social Sciences, but does include some science and medicine titles

How to access the agreement 

  • During the submission process, state that you are affiliated with the University of Manchester and use your university email address 

  • Once your article is accepted, SAGE will invite you to the SAGE Open Access Portal where you can select to publish your article Open Access 

  • Authors should complete SAGE’s Journal Contributor’s Publishing Agreement on acceptance as normal. An Open Access Contributor’s Agreement will replace this once you select Open Access in the SAGE Portal  

  • If you have a choice of Creative Commons licence, the University encourages authors to select the Creative Commons by Attribution (CC-BY) licence

The University does not have an Open Access (OA) agreement with MDPI.  

We have a prepayment account we use to pay Article Processing Charges (APC’s), which provides us with a 10% discount. 

For us to pay an MDPI APC, authors need to request OA funding using our Open Access enquiry form. 
 
As a fully OA publisher, MDPI journals are eligible for the use of our OA budgets. You can check your eligibility for these budgets in our Open Access funds available for University of Manchester researchers article.
