There is a UK-wide limit on the total number of papers which can be published Open Access via this deal. Once this threshold is hit, the deal will pause, and immediate Open Access with Wiley will be unavailable for Manchester authors for a period of time. The University does not have an Open Access (OA) agreement with MDPI.
We have a prepayment account we use to pay Article Processing Charges (APC’s), which provides us with a 10% discount.
For us to pay an MDPI APC, authors need to request OA funding using our Open Access enquiry form.
As a fully OA publisher, MDPI journals are eligible for the use of our OA budgets. You can check your eligibility for these budgets in our Open Access funds available for University of Manchester researchers article.
