The recent pace of change within the subject of employment relations has been significant. New forms of management, new methods of pay determination and government policies have led to a move away from the traditional focus of collective bargaining and trade unions and have broadened the scope of the subject. The British Journal of Industrial Relations has acknowledged these changes.
