Der Islam: Journal of the History and Culture of the Middle East
Der Islam was founded in 1910 by Carl Heinrich Becker, whose scholarly career was devoted to the establishment of Islamic Studies as a mature scientific field dedicated to historical and cultural research, independent of the then-prevailing field of Oriental philology.
