Neurocase: Behavior, Cognition and Neuroscience

ISSN: 1355-4794eISSN: 1465-3656

Neurocase is a rapid response journal of both adult and child case studies in neuropsychology, neuropsychiatry and behavioral neurology. Four types of manuscript are considered for publication: single case investigations that bear directly on issues of relevance to theoretical issues or brain-behavior relationships; group studies of subjects with brain dysfunction that address issues relevant to the understanding of human cognition; reviews of important topics in the domains of neuropsychology, neuropsychiatry and behavioral neurology; and brief reports (up to 2500 words) that replicate previous reports dealing with issues of considerable significance. Of particular interest are investigations that include precise anatomical localization of lesions or neural activity via imaging or other techniques. Topic reviews are included in most issues. Peer Review IntegrityAll published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees. Special IssuesIssues devoted to a single topic are occasionally published in this journal; these are sent free to subscribers, and are also available to purchase separately as books for non-subscribers. Neuroethics

ISSN: 1874-5490eISSN: 1874-5504

Neuroethics is a forum for interdisciplinary studies in neuroethics and related issues in the sciences of the mind. The focus is on ethical issues posed by new technologies developed via neuroscience, such as psycho-pharmaceuticals and other ways of intervening in the mind; the practice of neuroscience itself, including problems posed by incidental findings in imaging work on research subjects; regulation of neuroscientific technologies, and ways in which the sciences of the mind illuminate traditional moral and philosophical problems, such as the nature of free will and moral responsibility, self-deception, weakness of the will and the nature of personhood. This important publication covers the dual areas of neuroethics: the ethics of neuroscience and the neuroscience of ethics. It offers comprehensive bibliographies, reviews of significant literature, information on activities including partial proceedings of selected meetings, and an opinions section for reader commentaries.

Neuropsychoanalysis

ISSN: 1529-4145eISSN: 2044-3978
Neuropsychoanalysis publishes papers at the intersection of psychoanalysis and the neurosciences. Our journal was founded on the assumption that these two historically divided disciplines are ultimately pursuing the same task, namely, 'attempt[ing] to make the complications of mental functioning intelligible by dissecting the function and assigning its different constituents to different component parts of the [mental] apparatus' (Freud, 1900a, p. 536).  Although the fields have approached this task from radically different perspectives, the underlying commonalities have become increasingly evident as neuroscientists have begun to investigate those 'complications of mental functioning' that were traditionally the preserve of psychoanalysts, such as emotion, unconscious cognition, and interpersonal processes. Neuropsychoanalysis provides an arena for integrating the explosion of neuroscientific insights into existing psychoanalytic theories and models, and for enriching behavioral and cognitive neuroscience, neurology, neuropsychology and related fields with the dynamic perspectives of psychoanalytic thought and practice.

We welcome experimental, clinical or theoretical papers that take into account both mind and brain.  More specifically, papers that emphasize the integration of the dynamic, intrapsychic or interpersonal world of subjectivity and mental life, either conscious or unconscious, on the one hand, and the objective measurements or manipulations of brain structure or function, on the other hand, are invited.  Submissions are subject to double-blind peer review before they are accepted for publication.  In addition, target papers on selected topics are solicited from leading researchers, and published together with invited commentaries from both psychoanalytic and neuroscientific peers.

Neuropsychologia

ISSN: 0028-3932eISSN: 1873-3514

Neuropsychologia is an international interdisciplinary journal devoted to experimental and theoretical contributions that advance understanding of human cognition and behavior from a neuroscience perspective. The journal will consider for publication studies that link brain function with cognitive processes, including attention and awareness, action and motor control, executive functions and cognitive control, memory, language, and emotion and social cognition.Neuropsychologia has a long history of publishing lesion-deficit studies, and these remain highly appropriate for the journal. Submission of papers describing the use of other methodologies – most notably functional and structural neuroimaging, cognitive electrophysiology, and transcranial magnetic stimulation - is strongly encouraged, however. Animal studies are also welcome, provided they have a direct and explicitly specified impact on understanding human cognition and behavior. Studies of clinical populations that are primarily descriptive or intended to elucidate a clinical disorder, or that evaluate a therapeutic intervention, are not appropriate for the journal. Special issues and Review Papers are published regularly with the aim of providing authoritative surveys of topics of major interest.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more.
